The Great Hall was full of chattering students as they entered from the long day of train riding. The First Years were, of course, going to be ushered in seperately and sorted on stage before all. This vast chamber was enchanted so the ceiling showed the sky outside, and it was blissfully clear and full of bright stars. Candles floated across the hall to light the place as well as the typical candelabra and such.
Upon entering from the Entrance Hall, the four house tables are arrayed with the nearest Dragonye, then Feonish, then Unycorne, and at the farthest wall Gryphone. The Professors all sit at the High Table to the front of the room. Behind them is a special door where the First years would be brought in.
At the center of the table sits Headmaster Caden Baker and to his right sits Headmistress Ashley Anderson. The rest of the Professors are seated along the table and one empty spot remains for the Professor who leads the first years.
After the First years are brought in and subsequently sorted into their houses, cheers from each house for their new additions, Caden stands up and waits for the hall to quiet. Caden had decided to get the rules and all out of the way in the beginning.
"Welcome First Years! And Welcome back students to another year at Elvenstein. I need to remind you all that the Forest of Fears is off limits, any trespassers will suffer dire consequences." Caden paused for a short moment.
"Our caretaker, has asked me to remind you that Magic is not allowed in the corridors and any offenders will find themselves under his pious jurisdiction. I cannot help you there. All other rules are in the Student Handbook available in any Professors office, the Library, and the Common Rooms. Therefore I will not tolerate excuses as to why you were traversing the corridors after hours."
At that a small smirk played on Caden's lips, knowing the things the Caretaker would love to do to misbehaving children and he liked the let the idea float out there. If he told them he could only give them detention, however brutal, they would not all listen to the rules. Caden was one who liked rules and structure quite a lot.
"Our Headmistress wants to say something too"Caden said looking to the Headmistress.
